President Benigno S. Aquino III thru the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) under the Stewardship of Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya released P2.3B to the Philippine National Railways (PNR) this year. 
The said funds will be used for the rehabilitation and repair of various stations, railtracks, bridges, line canal, pavement etc. of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) according to GM Joseph Allan C. Dilay in a press conference held at Tutuban. Manila station recently. GM Dilay also said that the implementation of the project will help more for the safety and security of PNR Commuters. Dilay revealed that the component of the project is also environment and tourism-friendly in relation to climate change and tourism program of the PNOY administration. He also added that it will help and ease the traffic congestion in Metro Manila and surrounding areas and provinces. In the long run it will trigger a livelihood and investment boom for the benefit of our people and country. Dilay further added.
